5 out of 5 stars a good reference tool for child nutrition   January 24, 2000

This book was recommended to me by a friend, and I really like it. I have used it to change the way I feed my child, and myself.

I have noticed a significant difference in my 18 month old son's health verses other children his age. He has never had an ear infection and his colds don't amount to much. But I am also making these changes for his future healthy immune system as well.

I refer to this book often, it's not a one time read. It also has recipes that incorporate the healthy foods that they recommend you feed your kids.

I also like the book, because it's not a weird "guru-type" nutrition book. These ideas for a healthy immune system are just a healthy lifestyle for EVERYONE...not just the "health food nut". This book is a good reference tool if you are interested in making a change in your child's overall health and well being.

5 out of 5 stars It's not that hard & a great book on eczema.   October 24, 2006

Why feed your kids something that actually depletes the nutrition you are trying so hard to give them [such as hydrogenated oils which prevent your child's body from absorbing other nutrients it needs]?

This book makes it clear what kid's need & what they don't need. I found the explanation of which vitamins/minerals can be too much - blocking absorption of other necessary nutrients - very helpful. Everyone I have turned on to the book has loved it!

Another thing I found helpful was the chapter on what to start feeding your 6 month - 1 yr. old. It lists what to start them on & what to hold off on & explains why. This is far more detailed than our pediatrician's information. The prenatal chapter is good as well & I wish I had this book when I was pregnant.

Especially easy & helpful is the information on which supplements are beneficail for your child's specific needs/problems like hyperactivey, yeast infections, eczema, cradle cap, fatigue, diabetes ect..

It's really not that hard. It's very basic nutritional information just well explained. It's really not difficult to feed your kids & yourself basic whole foods. Read the labels! You may quickly realize these are lifestyle changes that you want to make since it is so beneficial to your child's health & development of their brain, eyes, etc.

Great format & an easy read.
THIS IS THE BEST BOOK I HAVE FOUND ON ECZEMA FOR CHILDREN OR ADULTS.

I also recommend:
Chemical-Free Kids: How to Safeguard Your Child's Diet and Environment by Allan Magaziner, Linda Bonvie, and Anthony Zolezzi
This book better explains the importance of organic foods among other things.
Another great format & an easy read.

5 out of 5 stars Super-great   September 23, 2000

Our daughter at toddler stage suffered from ear infections, colds, bronchitis, pneumonia, gastrointestinal problems. The pediatrician gave her many rounds of antibiotics. Nothing improved, in fact her health became worse and worse until we followed the advice in SUPERIMMUNITY by giving her flax seed oil in her juice and magnesium and following a very healthy diet. Contrary to other opinions it isn't hard to pass up fast food and create healthy snacks and meals. Our daughter has rarely been

sick since. I have given this book away many times.

5 out of 5 stars Best book for new parents!   September 4, 2003

We were given this book as a gift for our son shortly after he was born. He is 3 and has been on antibiotics since day-one due to kidney reflux. We have used this book as a guideline for his nutrition from the very first. It helped us solve much of that early "colic" crying (i.e. - any crying doctors can't explain) by adjusting my diet while breast feeding him. It has also helped him avoid many of the millions of ear/sinus/chest infections most babies get. He's probably only had about 2 colds and they were short-lived due to nutritional changes suggested by this book. It has helped us keep him healthy while taking daily antibiotics (which can wreak havoc with your system even while helping you). Best of all, he thinks fruit is junk food and loves veggies. We actually couldn't get him to try cake or icecream at his 3rd birthday. He's had next to no processed sugar in his life. Our son eats better than we do! We are very thankful we had this guideline to help us get him on the right track early on so we didn't have to wrestle a toddler away from typical American "nutrition".

5 out of 5 stars Amazing book   July 15, 2004

My daughter was diagnosed with excema, and I was told to put her on steroid treatments to control it. After following the advice in this book, her symptoms have completely disappeared and she is happier and healthier. Dr. Galland's advice is amazing, and has been a blessing to our family.
